"480 Minutes" - Sweet 16!

Sixteen years ago today BAGeL Radio was launched on an unsuspecting public. The public did not notice. Early on we had Tim and Dan listening in from Boston, then a few San Francisco friends joined, then a few New York friends, then a few people we didn't know. We were flabbergasted to discover that by the end of 2003 there were listeners in 100+ countries and 150+ U.S. municipalities, so we decided that we'd better digitize the second half of the music collection and pay a bit more attention to this thing borne of many manic episodes of up-all-night digitizing, learning, planning, and kluging things together. This is what the original logo (thanks Kennedy!) and host looked like at the time:

The live-hosted shows began in 2004, which is why at the bottom of this post you will see that this is episode #4 of year 15 (not 16) of our Friday marathon show, 480 Minutes.

Today's 480 Minutes show will include16 of our favorite songs from 2003 as well as feature new releases by The Dandy Warhols (Portland, OR, @TheDandyWarhols), Girlpool (Los Angeles, CA, @girlpool), Guided By Voices (Dayton, OH, @_GuidedByVoices), Steve Mason (Brighton, England, @MasonTW), Knuckle Pups (Denver, CO),  The Lindas (Los Angeles, CA), Mozes and the Firstborn (Eindhoven, The Netherlands, @MozesATF), Sons of Raphael (London, England), and The Twilight Sad (Glasgow, Scotland, @thetwilightsad). 

480 Minutes is live-hosted from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Eastern U.S. Time and is followed by 2 hours of uninterrupted music.  The show is then rebroadcast in it's entirety beginning at 7 p.m., then again on Saturday at 5 a.m. and 3 p.m., and one final time on Sunday at 1 a.m., followed by a rebroadcast of this week's Fuzzy Road radio show at 11 a.m. and then a couple of old 480 Minutes episodes from this week in past years, so there will be hosted shows all weekend long.
