"480 Minutes" - We're Falling For It!

What is it Americans are falling for? Agit-prop! From without and within.

Examples from this week's Democratic debate: Bernie Sanders folks repeating and amplifying the answers to a debate question that was designed to divide -- asked if they want the candidate with the most delegates to automatically get the nomination (by rule the leader must have a majority, not a plurality) of course Bernie said yes -- he is leading and is most likely to reach the convention with the most delegates. Duh. At the same time, of course the other candidates want to let the process play out, because if they continue to trail, a contested convention is the only way they can become the nominee. Duh. Bernie promised a contested convention in 2016 if HRC didn't get the required majority of votes -- because then, he was trailing. It was a stupid question designed to start more in-fighting, and a ton of people fell for it.

Along the same lines, there was a question about a poll that showed Americans are unwilling to vote for a Socialist (as they know well, and as explained here last week, Sanders is a Democratic Socialist, which is quite different). Bernie answered the shit-stirring question on that subject well by retorting, "What was the result of that poll? Who was winning?" (Sanders won that poll, making the question irrelevant), quickly shutting down the idiotic circular firing squad that question was designed to trigger. Of course, Joe Biden and the DNC keep telling us that the candidate leading in the polls can't win.

Shame on NBC for such meaningless, fire-stoking-over-bullshit questions. There's plenty of real differences between the candidates, not to mention consequential issues that were never addressed, including the fact that a man who is too corrupt to be allowed to run a charity now claims to be the chief law enforcement officer of the land.

Just stop it. Focus on the issues, support your candidate without tearing others down with bullshit.

That said, I believe that Joe Biden is doing more harm than good to the cause of defeating the incumbent and needs to drop out of the race yesterday. Now that Bloomberg been outed for his racist policies (stop and frisk) and perspectives (redlining) and misogyny (his "Wit and Wisdom"), he should drop out too. That will free him up to seek redemption by using his $62.8 billion personal fortune to keep up the ads attacking The Baby Cager ($1.5B), fix Flynt Michigan's water, ($200M) pay reparations to any and all who were unconstitutionally humiliated, terrorized, or worse by stop and frisk ($1B), buy Fox News and turn it over to PBS ($30B), and fix his beloved NYC public transit system ($25B).  That spending spree would leave him with $5B on which to retire.

Seriously, one septuagenarian white guy in this contest is more than enough.

Today's show will be live-hosted from 9am-5pm Eastern U.S. Time and feature new music mainly by Canadian artists including Elephant Stone (Montreal, Canada, @ElephantStoneHQ), Kristjan Eastman (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada), Les Deuxluxes (Montreal, Canada, @lesdeuxluxes), Port Juvee (Calgary, Alberta, Canada, @portjuvee), Tame Impala (Perth, Australia, @tameimpala), and only two decent American artists like The Dead Milkmen, Eyelids (Portland, OR, @musicofEYELIDS), and Guided By Voices (Dayton, OH, @_guidedbyvoices).

480 Minutes / Year 16 - Episode 7/682

P.S. - the @bagelradio account has been suspended by Twitter for changing it’s birthday from 12/26/1902 (false) to 2/1/2003 (true). Not exactly peak Twitter, but sheesh...anyways, BAGeL Ted will post from @tedleibowitz until @bagelradio is freed from Twitter jail, or we start a new account…or maybe getting kicked off of Twitter for replacing a 12-year old fictional bio with something factual will finally be the impetus we need to abandon social media entirely.
