"480 Minutes" - New York Is Home To Many Fine Bands

How is it possibly Friday again? (U.S.) Thanksgiving rapidly approacheth (and, sticking with tradition, there will be no 480 Minutes the Friday after Thanksgiving), daylight savings time is in effect so it is now dark when we get out of bed and dark when we get home from work, baseball season is over, the NFL is all about parity, not greatness, and in hockey my team the Islanders has once again sunk to the bottom of the NHL standings. Boo hiss all around. I guess it's time to scour New York for new bands -- check out what we've found by tuning in today and every Friday to 480 Minutes between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific Time.

Today's show includes new music by Atlantic/Pacific (Brooklyn, NY), Gary War (New York, NY), Hollerado (Manotick, Canada), Home Video (Brooklyn via New Orleans), Hot Panda (Edmonton, Canada), Houses (Chicago, IL), Jonquil (Oxford, England), The Last Royals (New York, NY), Paleo (homeless), Sleeping In The Aviary (Minneapolis, MN), Weekend (San Francisco, CA), and The Young Werewolves (Philadelphia, PA).

Today's show will also contain multiple sets of seminal 80s Alternative Rock (back when there was such a thing as Alternative Rock) and New Wave, inspired by the benefit I DJed last night at Bottom of the Hill to raise money for sound engineer Kim Greiss and her fight against breast cancer. The Bay Bridged previewed the event here, and if you want to donate to help Kim with her medical expenses you can do so here.
