"480 Minutes" - new Thurston Moore

It's time for 480 Minutes and I don't know what to talk about. For some reason this year, Thursdays have been the worst day of the week for me. If something bad is going to happen, it tends to happen on Thursdays: health insurance nightmares, legal crap, whathaveyou, and yesterday was no exception. This not having anything fun to talk about is going to be a problem -- or not. Maybe it will result in more music and less talk during this week's show....

Oh, who am I kidding? Nothing fun to talk about...pshaw! It has been and will continue to be a great week for going out here in the Bay Area:
1. Persephone's Bees, The Lambs, B and Not B, World Record @ The Knockout tonight, 5/13;
2. Seeing both Mist and Mast and Pancho-San at the Make-Out Room last Saturday in one excellent, gloriously early show;
3. Raveonettes @ Bimbo's this past Tuesday-- those kids do well whatever the hell it is that they do;
4. JEFF The Brotherhood tomorrow night at Bottom of the HIll 5/14 -- long-haired punk rock from Nashville whose album reached #6 here last October;
5. Going a-Gothing -- a friend wanted to go to Cat Club last Friday for her
birthday, so a-Gothing we did go. It was a blast. At one point they played
Heaven 17 into Bauhaus into Christian Death and my teen club days came back to me in a tingly rush. DJ Melting Girl even played my request, an ancient
Siouxsie and The Banshees song called "Monitor," a song I used to request every
Saturday night at "X-Night" at a club called Axis in Boston. And people danced
to it with me.

Today's new playlist additions include music from Amor de Dias (The Clientele), B And Not B (San Francisco, CA), Balkans (Atlanta, GA), Chad VanGaalen (Calgary, Canada), Dan Sartain (Birmingham, AL), Gold-Bears (Atlanta, GA), Grand Hotel (Portland, ME), Helado Negro (New York, NY), Jamie Woon (New Malden, England), Jeremy Jay (Los Angeles, CA), matt pond PA (New York, NY), Miwa Gemini (New York, NY), No Surrender (Brooklyn, NY), ohGr (Los Angeles, CA), Poly Styrene (Bromley, England, R.I.P.), Sallie Ford and The Sound Outside (Portland, OR), Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), and 13 and God (Oakland, CA and Weilheim, Germany).
