"480 Minutes" -The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Edition

September is ending, the baseball playoffs start tonight, topless women are occupying Wall Street, Rick Perry, like Shrub before him, miraculously continues to hold appeal of his idiot supporters after being trounced in debate after debate, and, oh yeah, lest I forget, there were a ton of strong new musical releases today which we will be previewing on our Friday internet radio show, 480 Minutes, the award-winning, longest-running live-hosted music radio show in the history of the internet.

Today's show will also feature new songs from [the] caseworker (San Francisco, CA), Bonnie 'Prince' Billy (Louisville, KY), Caged Animals (Brooklyn, NY), Cant (New York, NY), Donora (Pittsburgh, PA), Future Islands (Baltimore, MD), Ivy (New York, NY), Kasabian (Leicester, England), Loney, Dear (Jonkoping, Sweden), Pallers (Stockholm, Sweden), Rocket From The Tombs (Cleveland, OH), Laura Stevenson & The Cans (England), Still Corners (London, England), and Zola Jesus (Los Angeles, CA).

During live show hours (Fridays, 9a.m. - 5p.m. Pacific Time) please get in touch in real-time:

This weekend is the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park here in San Francisco.  Some of the Friday bands include Kurt Vile & The Violators, Robert Plant & The Band Of Joy, Southern Culture On The Skids, Thurston Moore, Jolie Holland, Chris Isaak, M. Ward, Bright Eyes, and, oh yeah, MC Hammer.  Saturday acts include +Robyn Hitchcock, Punch Brothers, +Broken Social Scene, Cass McCombs Band, Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, and Kris Kristofferson & Merle Haggard.  Then on Sunday there's Emmylou Harris, +Jessica Lea Mayfield, The Low Anthem, +DeVotchKa, +Elbow, +Bob Mould, and +Those Darlins.

"+" denotes acts I would like to see but it will all depend on the baseball playoffs.  I will be busy on Friday hosting 480 Minutes, so even though I'd like to see Vile, Plant, Oberst, and few others, I'm going to miss those Friday acts.  Please make it up to me by getting in touch, letting me know where you are listening from, and maybe even making a request or two.
