"480 Minutes" - Twenty Fourteen = Not Sexy

Hey! It's 2014! What kind of year is 2014 going to be? Better than 2013, that's for sure.

Recreational marijuana is legal in Colorado, more clinging-to-the-Jim-Crow-past people than young open-minded ones shuffled off this mortal coil, and I just spent my first New Year's Eve in Brooklyn since being a wee lad dropped off at my grandparents' apartment in Sheepshead Bay where I was forced to eat herring in white sauce with onions because it was good luck.  This year?  Lots of delicious seafood, no herring, no white sauce. Yes, things are definitely looking up!

Today is the first 480 Minutes episode of the year.  There has been an avalanche of positive e-mail of late reporting how much people have been enjoying the station these past couple of weeks.  The end of year/beginning of year playlists consist mainly of songs we've all known and loved, with almost nothing "new" to challenge us.  Today's show will continue along those lines while featuring a few brand new releases.

The new as-yet-unnamed fuzzed-out space rock show is almost ready for prime time.  The base of songs is in place and will make it's debut once a name is chosen.  If you have any ideas for names please let me know!

Today's 480 Minutes (every Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Eastern Time) episode will debut new songs by Cate Le Bon (Penboyr, Wales, @CateLeBon), Cheap Time (Nashville, TN, @Cheap_Time), Daniel Harnett (New York, NY), The Entrance Band (Los Angeles, CA, @theentranceband), Half Film (San Francisco, CA), Jesus Sons (San Francisco/Los Angeles, CA, @jesussonsband), Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks (Portland, OR, @MalkmusAndJicks), and The Vickers (Florence, Italy, @The_Vickers).

Requests will be taken and oftentimes honored during the live-hosted hours via e-mail, IM, and Twitter (in something resembling real time):
