"480 Minutes" - Are We There Yet, Mom?

Happy National BAGeL Day. I must admit that I had no idea until SomaFM mastermind Rusty Hodge sent me a newsflash moments ago.

That's nearly as exciting as the fact that we are just days away from Inauguration Day -- we're almost there, kids! We've made it to the end of a presidency that should have never happened and should have been ended numerous times over the past four years.. Personally I hope they do the whole event virtually because out there right now there are a whole lot of armed, scrapple-for-brains, Big Lie-believing, white grievance-enraged Americans who think a know-nothing fake billionaire is their friend and some are looking to go out in a blaze of gory (not a type-o).

Historically the Friday 8:30pm network time slot was where TV shows went to wither before being canceled. This time of year (December/January) is kinda like that for new music. and for the second straight week we listened to 400+ song submissions and grimaced through most of it. Unlike last week there are a few things that I'm excited about playing for you today, but for the most part reviewing records of late has been a real slog. Maybe I'm just not yet back in the swing of things. Maybe I'm in a foul mood because so many FUCKING REPUBLICANS are still pushing THE BIG LIE that the MENDACIOUS ORANGE BULLY has been telling for months. Or maybe it's not me, maybe the December/January submissions are even worse than usual this year.

Anyway, today's show will feature extremely not shitty new music by Dead Anyway (Gloucestershire, England, @anyway_dead), Goat Girl (London, England), Mush (Leeds, England, @HelloMushBand), Sleaford Mods (Nottingham, England, @SleafordMods), Viagra Boys (Stockholm, Sweden), and Yesse Yavis (Memphis, TN).
