The fact that Cruella DeVos, who owns multiple yachts including one worth $40M, is the person who gets to make the "tough decision" to cut funding from the Special Olympics is a pretty solid Marie Antoinette moment.
The fact that guy who auditioned for the job of keeping the president safe from the Mueller report by, 8 months prior to seeing the report, writing a 19-page memo concluding there was no collusion or obstruction, concluded there was no obstruction or collusion but won’t show us the report is a pretty solid coverup moment.
Meanwhile Congressional Republicans from Lindsey Graham to Mitch McConnell to Devin Nunes are towing the The Bigliest Liar's line and bashing anyone who ever suggested that campaign officials knowingly met with Russians intent on influencing the 2016 election. Those fellows will someday pay a price for enabling this dangerous, anti-American demagogue.
In actual fun news, this week we received our first release in a long time that features "Cookie Monster vocals" and it was good for a 30-second laugh before we moved on because...really?

President Bone Spurs: "You thought I was a disgusting, hateful, and disgraceful when I made fun of John McCain when he was alive? Hold my Diet Coke."
New Zealand did the whole thoughts and prayers thing after the terrorist killing spree by a Radical White Supremacist whose manifesto echoes President Nationalist's anti-immigrant words, policies, and attitudes, and this week New Zealand banned military style semi-automatic guns and assault rifles. Meanwhile here in the U.S. we're a month away from being 20 years removed from the Columbine massacre and 12 years from Virginia Tech massacre, Sandy Hook was 6 years ago, Orlando was 3 years ago, Las Vegas and the First Texas Baptist Church were 18 months ago...there have been more than 80 mass shootings in the U.S. since Columbine...and U.S. gun laws have, for the most part, been loosened over that time.
This is but one sign of the collective insanity wrought by the lobbying of the NRA, the amplification of the guns guns and more guns mantra by Fox News and other right wing outlets, and the enabling of this insanity of the Republican party.

We were fortunate enough to see Viagra Boys first-ever U.S. performance this week and they were good. Perhaps a bit same-y sounding after a while, and their unholy stew of early PIL, Butthole Surfers, The Fall, Jon Spencer, and Giorgio Moroder is not for everyone, however Sebastian Murphy is an undeniably captivating frontman.
This week President NoEmmy was stung with a 420-0 rebuke from the House of Representatives which voted to make the Mueller Report public. Of course William Barr was hand-picked to be the U.S. Attorney General for the sole purpose of keeping that report from ever becoming public and he will likely do what his master (who is not supposed to be his master, by the way, the Justice Department is supposed to be independent from the executive branch) demands.
Also this week while watching FOX News President WKHCBSC (who knew healthcare could be so complicated?) Tweeted that climate change is not real and Tweeted about his failing Scottish golf course, threatening the US-UK relationship over his owing fees for a legal battle he started with Scotland and lost. Again: a sitting U.S. President threatened an ally over *his own personal finances* and congress yawned.
Finally, on the same day a U.S. court decided that merchant of death gun manufacturer Remington could be sued over the marketing over the rifle used to slaughter 20 first graders and six adults in Newtown, CT, 40 people were slaughtered with similar semi-automatic weapons in an Islamophobic right wing terrorist attack in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Today's 480 Minutes show will feature new songs by The Coathangers (Atlanta, GA, @TheCoathangers), Kiwi Jr. (Toronto, Canada, @kikijrgroup), Pond (Perth, Australia, @PONDband), Squid (Brighton, England, @squidbanduk), and Stella Donnelly (Perth, Australia, @stelladonnelly).
