"480 Minutes" - Best Music of 2007

This it is folks, the show we've been working toward all year, the Best Music of 2007 edition of "480 Minutes."

Initially albums were ranked by starred song ratings divided by number of songs per album, then those were whittled down and reordered by looking at the Best 50 songs of the year list, and then the final order came to me in a dream. In the dream you were all naked and standing atop a barbecue-serving 18-wheeler, and in the margins of the chalkboard menu were coded lists of the Best Music of the year. It was a vision, nay a visitation, from the Flying Spaghetti (as a side dish) Monster, praise the pasta.

At 10 a.m. Pacific Time we will start with the #50 song of 2007, and the countdown to #1 will take us about 1:45 p.m. For the hour or so after that we'll squeeze in another 15 of the best songs of 2007, an "honorary mention" hour, if you will, followed by the Best Bay Area Songs of the Year beginning at 3 p.m. Pacific Time. There were so many great local songs released this year that I had to pull them out of the overall Best of 2007 countdown and give them a countdown of their own. Somewhere in there will be an announcement regarding the Best Albums of 2007, and the Best Bay Area Albums of 2007.

Anyway, tune in, take notes, and if you miss anything, know that tomorrow's blog post will contain a complete run-down of the Best 50 Songs, Best Albums, Best Bay Area Albums, Best Bay Area Songs, and even a list of the Best Cover Versions released in 2007.
