"480 Minutes" - Live From New York, It's...

Hello and happy Friday!  Welcome to our first broadcast from New York in quite some time, not to mention the first broadcast from NY since BAGeL Radio relocated here last week.  Today's show is coming to you from our temporary studio in Queens (when you hear the DJ speak it may be in mono -- d'oh!), and we are working out specifics on other broadcast locations for the coming weeks including East Williamsburg (Brooklyn), The East Village (Manhattan), and The Upper West Side (Manhattan).

We will have some semblance of a broadcast studio set up and running in time for today's all-new edition of 480 Minutes, which will be live-hosted from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. local time, which is now the Eastern Time Zone of the U.S.  For those in San Francisco, the show will run from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. Pacific Time, followed by two hours of uninterrupted music, followed by a rebroadcast of the program in it's entirety.

Today's edition of 480 Minutes will see the debut of new (or reissued) songs by Ashrae Fax (reissue) (Greenboro, NC), Coke Weed (Bar Harbor, ME), David Lynch (Twin Peaks, WA), Editors (Birmingham, England), Farao (London, England), Fur Trade (Vancouver, Canada), Gauntlet Hair (Chicago, IL), Gogol Bordello (New York, NY), Grant Hart (South Saint Paul, MN), Hot Chip (London, England), Jackson Scott (Asheville, NC), Jacuzzi Boys (Miami, FL), La Machine (re-issue) (Providence, RI), The Love Language (Raleigh, NC), Salvia Plath (Baltimore, MD), Trails and Ways (Oakland, CA), Travis Bretzer (Edmonton, Canada), The Trouble Starts (Seattle, WA), We Are The City (Vancouver, Canada), and Weekend (Brooklyn, NY via San Francisco, CA).

Requests are taken during the live-hosted hours (9 a.m. - 5 p.m Pacific Time) via e-mail and IM:

Greetings from New York!  Today's live hosted marathon of a radio show will be broadcast remotely from the Eastern Time Zone of the U.S. from 9a.m. until 5p.m. to wherever you are on the planet. Please note that if you are currently not on Planet Earth this radio station is off-limits to you until such time as the Intergalactic Copyright Police works out some formal arrangements regarding streaming royalties.

"480 Minutes" - Live From New York...

OK, so here's the thing -- 480 Minutes is being broadcast today from the house in which I grew up in Queens, NY. This has happened before, but not for several years, and I must say I'm kinda excited about it even though such efforts often court disaster.

In fact, it already has -- I don't have a decent working microphone, so we're going to piecing this together using whatever we can find: earbuds, built-in mics, the left speaker of my headphones....we'll try anything!  Suggestions welcome!

The biggest way in which this affects you regular listeners is that today's show will be live from 9a.m. to 5p.m. Eastern Time, not Pacific, so the East Coast folks get to hear the babble starting 3 hours earlier, and the West Coast folks will be starting their workday towards the middle of the show.  Confused?  You will be...

This week's new playlist additions will include music by Advance Base (Chicago, IL), Bad Veins (Cincinnati, OH), Beach House (Baltimore, MD), The Boom Boom Box (Dallas, TX), The Cribs (West Yorkshire, England), Evans The Death (London, England), Hospitality (Brooklyn, NY), and Is/Is (Minneapolis, MN).

As mentioned earlier, today's show runs from 9a.m. until 5p.m. Eastern Time, not Pacific.  Click the big PLAY button at the top right of bagelradio.com (black circle, blue triangle).  Get in touch in real time during the show:
