"480 Minutes" - Farewell San Francisco

Hello and happy Friday!

Big news -- BAGeL Radio is moving!  This will be the final episode of 480 Minutes broadcast from San Francisco!

(To be clear, SomaFM is not going anywhere, only BAGeL Radio is moving, and BAGeL Radio will continue to be part of the best internet radio station on the planet: SomaFM).

So, next Friday (7/19) as we make our way from the West coast to the East there will be no episode 480 Minutes. BAGeL Radio will remain online and streaming so, as always, please tune in  24/7/365.

The plan is to have some semblance of a broadcast studio set up and running in time for an all-new edition of 480 Minutes on Friday, July 26th, at our new location in New York City (where the best bagels are from!), so check this space (and/or follow us on Facebook) to keep updated.  Also note that wherever we broadcast from, 480 Minutes is always from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. local time. Starting on 7/26, our local time will be the Eastern Time Zone of the U.S.

Today's edition of 480 Minutes will see the debut of new songs by Austra (Toronto, Canada), Honeyslide (London, England), Hunx and his Punx (Oakland, CA), M. Lockwood Porter (Berkeley, CA), Maps (Northampton, England), The Moses Gun (Chicago, IL), Outer Limits Recordings (New York, NY), Pity Sex (Ann Arbor, MI), Robert Pollard (Dayton, OH), Speedy Ortiz (Northampton, MA), They Dead (Minneapolis, MN), Thriftstore Masterpiece (Lee Hazelwood covers), We Are Hex (Indianapolis, IN), You Me & Us (Palm Springs, CA), and Young Fathers (Edinburgh, Scotland).

Requests are taken during the live-hosted hours (9 a.m. - 5 p.m Pacific Time) via e-mail and IM:

Glenn Tilbrook performing "Piccadilly" @ Red Devil Lounge 10/15/09

Glenn Tilbrook, lead singer of Squeeze and also Glenn Tilbrook and the Fluffers, performing solo at The Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco. Besides the great voice and great songs, the man is just a great performer. Personable, humble, and funny as hell. Go see him: www.glenntilbrook.com/tour/tour.html

Outside Lands Fesitval

I am thrilled that I will get to walk from my house to see Radiohead tomorrow. While one might think such serendipity could only happen once in a lifetime, the fact is I walked from my apartment in The Fens to see Radiohead at Venus de Milo in 1993 when they played in support of their debut album, Pablo Honey. You know, back when "Creep" was the only song of theirs anyone knew, and I was a DJ at that venue.

This weekend they'll be playing at the Outside Lands Fesitval in Golden Gate Park, a venue that abuts my current neighborhood, The Richmond District.

Bands I am looking forward to seeing include:

Friday: Lyrics Born, Black Keys, Cold War Kids, Beck, Radiohead
Saturday: Steve Winwood, The Coup, Liars, Walkmen, Devandra Banhart, M. Ward, Two Gallants
Sunday: (well, I'm not going Sunday, but if I was going on Sunday...) Broken Social Scene, Andrew Bird, Stars, and Rogue Wave.
